Born into a musical family, Grant Teeple has been surrounded by music his entire life, playing his first instrument, guitar, at the age of five. By 11, Grant found a new passion in music: the saxophone. First drawn in by solos in the classic rock groups he grew up listening to, Grant quickly found his calling on the saxophone in the Jazz canon.

Grant completed his Bachelor’s degree of Jazz Saxophone at Michigan State University, where he had opportunities to study with greats such as Rodney Whitaker, Diego Rivera, and Etienne Charles, as well as tour with Michigan State Jazz Orchestra 1 for two seasons with some of the world’s top jazz musicians. Through MSU, Grant was afforded the amazing chance to tour with a Jazz Ensemble in Japan, providing a learning and playing experience unlike anything else.  In January 2020, Grant traveled to New York with MSU Jazz Orchestra 1 to compete in the Inaugural Jack Rudin Collegiate Jazz Competition against other top schools, and placed 3rd in the nation. While Grant majored in saxophone, he also trained professionally on the flute, clarinet, and vocals.

Grant received his Master's Degree in Jazz Studies at Florida State University in May 2022, under the mentorship of Leon Anderson, Rodney Jordan, David Detweiler, Kevin Jones, and Marcus Roberts. One year later, Grant moved to Austin, Texas, where he will be joining the faculty at Huston-Tillotson University, directed by Dr. Jeremy George, teaching along side greats such as Andre Hayward.
