Jason Grant | Jason Grant is a trumpet player and educator born and raised in San Antonio, TX. He began his professional career in the 11th grade as a student at William Howard Taft HS. He continued his studies at Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi for a small time before returning home to study at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).
In 2017, Jason left UTSA to pursue a full time opportunity as a United States Army Bandsman where he continued to hone his teaching and performing abilities. He returned to UTSA after leaving the Army, and graduated in 2022 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music with a Minor in Jazz studies.
Jason is now based in Austin, TX where he teaches and performs full time as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the Butler School of Music at The University of Texas at Austin (UT). After earning his Master’s Degree in Jazz Performance from UT, Jason aspires to further his career as an instructor in higher education while maintaining a busy performance schedule.

Aidan Brown | Aidan Brown, a prodigious jazz saxophonist, is poised to captivate audiences with his Junior Recital at The University of Texas at Austin. Hailing from Cedar Park, Texas, Brown's musical journey began at a young age when he discovered his passion for the saxophone. Throughout his studies, he has honed his craft under the mentorship of esteemed music educators such as Andy Wilds, Billy McPhail, Dan Bechdolt, Stephen Page and Diego Rivera.
Brown's musical style is characterized by his emotive phrasing, inventive improvisation, and deep-rooted respect for jazz tradition. Drawing inspiration from jazz luminaries like Sonny Stitt, Charles Mingus, and Ornette Coleman, Brown infuses his performances with a blend of classic sophistication and contemporary flair.
In his musical pursuits, Brown is a dedicated scholar, currently majoring in Jazz Saxophone Performance at UT Austin. In addition to playing with the university's Jazz Orchestra, he also performs with and composes for the Alternative Improvisational Music Ensemble, where he has premiered his pieces, Nuclear Dwelling Fella, Out of the Bass Path, and Trip Down on Saturn’s Ground this year. His talent and commitment have earned him recognition among peers and faculty alike.
With his Junior Recital, Aidan Brown invites listeners on a sonic journey through the rich tapestry of the baritone saxophone’s place in the history of jazz, showcasing his virtuosity and unwavering dedication to the art form. As he continues to evolve as a musician and scholar, Brown undoubtedly stands poised for a promising future in the world of jazz.

Juan Rolando San Miguel | Juan San Miguel is a versatile musician from San Antonio, Texas, with a musical journey that began in the world of mariachi. He has since evolved into a professional jazz artist, captivating audiences across Austin and San Antonio with his soulful performances. Juan's mastery extends beyond jazz; he is a skilled flute player contributing his talents to various salsa groups in Austin. In addition to his jazz and salsa endeavors, Juan remains deeply connected to his roots, showcasing his expertise on the vihuela in numerous mariachi ensembles. Juan San Miguel has performed across the United States, showcasing his musical talent and passion on various stages.


Please Note: This is a live-taping, so we'll be enforcing a whisper-policy! Cold bottles of still and sparkling water will be available for purchase, but this event is BYOB. Ice will be available if needed, wine keys and 9oz cups provided! 22 free parking spaces onsite are first-come-first-serve.
